Ever Seeking

The History and Future of Search
By Greg Kihlström

About the Book

Starting from the origins of the classification of information, to early Web-based search engines, and finishing with predictions about the future, this ebook discusses search and its impact on marketers and society.

There is no doubt that search and the global access to information it allows has changed humanity, while grounding itself in many of the ways we have always remembered and contextualized information all along, making it even easier to adopt and grow. With search engines, voice assistants, mobile devices and other interfaces at the ready, we now have the answer to just about any question within a few moments’ effort. We don’t even need to type our questions anymore. Siri, Alexa, or countless other assistants are there to help us with a voice prompt.

Search’s effect on society is that information has become, for the most part, democratized. While we have some challenges to overcome as a society in ensuring that there is democracy for everyone, the access that search allows us to almost anything we could possibly imagine is often just a question away.

Ever Seeking is Greg Kihlström’s latest book, following The Agile Brand, published earlier this year. In that book, Kihlström explores how brands that embrace consumer feedback and create a “living” brand that evolves over time while staying true to its values.
